I am sitting here both in awe of the day that was yesterday and completely drained from what it took.
I don’t really understand it but it was totally worth it!
We spent last week on vacation in Orlando. We did not go to any of the theme parks. If you are a parent, you know that is no vacation. Instead we picked a place that has a ton of things for the kids (and me) to do. Our family likes water activities so we spent the week laying by the lazy river, going down water slides, and a massive inflatable thing called the Hippo Slide.
Leaders need vacations. This is especially true for people whose life is their work. A pastor can’t leave the job at the office. You are always on duty. Most pastors have no idea they are burnt out until they either have a break down, leave the ministry, or have an affair. I don’t want any of those.
I was hemming and hawing about going until my wife brought up my need to get away. I knew it was the Holy Ghost. I came back refreshed and ready to preach.
Sunday morning there was such a presence in worship. I don’t know if the team hated me or not but I asked them to sing a song in the middle of their set. I think it was the right call. Either way the presence was amazing.
After service we had a baptism and I was amazed at the anointing that was on the waters. Folks got delivered and freed. One woman had to have someone drive her home because she was so drunk in the Holy Ghost.
As always, there are folks who have no idea they were going to get baptized until Holy Spirit tells them to. They can argue, but He knows what He is doing.
For some reason, folks think nothing of answering altar calls all the time but think you can only get baptized once. I don’t take communion once. I don’t pray once. I don’t repent once. I don’t get delivered once. I don’t tithe once. I don’t get filled once. I don’t get baptized once.
You can disagree but there is nothing in scripture that forbids it.
At the end I asked some of my sons to baptize me and one of them prophesied over me…and I received it!
I posted on facebook that we were going to have dinner at the beach if anyone wanted to join us and 25 people did!
What a great time. I am so happy to be part of this community of believers!
